I like a good thrift store tip from time to time. If you saw this tip on washing vintage bottles, you may know that I have a thing for old glass- I love finding cool glass jars and vintage kitchen stuff. Like this incredible deco glass mayonnaise lid that my sister found for me. I love it! But it was sad and lonely as it was missing its jar.

Here’s a great tip find a container that would fit this amazing lid, so I can use it in my kitchen:

Step 1: Lay your lid upside down on a piece of thin paper (I used newsprint) and trace around the outside edge.

Step 2: Take the paper out from under the lid, and put it on top- mark any important measurements and sketch in- I drew in the inner rim that will need to fit down inside of the jar. Cut out your paper pattern.

Step 4: Take your pattern with you and search for a match. I stashed my pattern in my wallet and would pull it out when I went to estate sales and thrift stores. After several months of searching, I found a great match!

And now my lovely Mayo lid has a new lease on life. I’m super excited to use this in upcoming photo shoots!
